A.E. Blakeney Sasktel Bursary ($40 000) - Deadline:  March 10, 2012
In honor of Allan Blakeney’s tenure on the SaskTel Board, and in recognition of his contribution to SaskTel, the A.E. Blakeney Bursary has been established in his name. The bursary is a fitting tribute to a man who has played a key role on the SaskTel Board of Directors during a time of unprecedented changes. The A.E. Blakeney Bursary will be awarded biannually in these years: 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012.  The bursary is available to support an outstanding Saskatchewan student in his/her post-secondary studies.  Student eligibility:  Financial need – must be in need of financial assistance in order to complete his/her studies; high academic standing; Saskatchewan resident and full-time university student.

The W. Garfield Weston AwardsDeadline:  March 28, 2012
The Garflied Weston Awards program will distribute up to 25 entrance awards to students entering their first year of college studies in Canada for use during the 201202013 academic year.  Each award comprises a tuition waiver from a consortium college renewable for up to three additional years; an $8000 stipend renewable for up to three additional years; access to summer program funding of up to $3500; and mentorship.  The selection criteria:  passionate about his or her field of study; curious, courageous, and willing to try new things; and community-minded and truly committed to being involved and making a difference in society. University of Saskatchewan Competitive Entrance Awards (varying amounts)  – Deadline:  February 15, 2012
Competitive entrance awards are based on academic achievement, financial need, and/or contributions to school and community life.  These awards also recognize particular backgrounds, acknowledge contributions to certain clubs, and reward achievement in music or athletics.  Competitive entrance awards are available to: students proceeding directly from high school to university; and students who have been out of high school for one or more years and have less than 18 credit units transferable to a program of study at the U of S.

Mensa Canada Scholarship (1 x $1000 one or more at $750; Honourable Mentions)  FOR NEXT YEAR - Deadline:  January 31, 2012
Eligibility:  Canadian or landed immigrant enrolled in a full-time program at a Canadian post-secondary institution, accredited by the applicable provincial Ministry of Education; full time program; at least 18 years old on January 31, 2012; awards based on applicants essay (English or French). The essay is 250 words or less and you must describe your career goals (academic, vocational or career).  It should contain explicit ideas and information.  For more specific information on the scholarship which grade 12 students could apply for next year go to the above link.

Odd Fellows and Rebekahs  of Saskatchewan Bursary ($1000)Deadline:  March 15, 2012 (not confirmed)
Granted to a student deemed most worthy and in need of financial assistance and must be used in year it is awarded. 
1.  Complete the application form.

3.  Letter indicating future plans and financial need.
4.  Letters of reference.

RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program Deadline:  February 28, 2012
This scholarship is intended to support those Aboriginal Students who have at least 2 years remaining in their current academic program. Scholarship recipients are selected primarily on the basis of personal and academic achievements and personal financial need

2012 Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program (20 x $5000)  – Deadline:  January 31, 2012
The scholarship program is to recognize and cultivate tomorrow’s environmental leaders. This is an opportunity for students graduating from a Canadian high school to earn one of twenty $5 000 entrance scholarships to go towards their post-secondary education, regardless of their chosen field of study. All they have to do is demonstrate excellence in their school studies and a commitment to the environment through school or community initiatives. A national winner will also receive a Panasonic notebook computer.

The Miller Thomson Foundation – 2012 National Scholarships Programme (100 x $3000)Deadline:  March 1, 2012

Remax of Western Canada QUEST for EXCELLENCE 2012 (16 x $1000) - Deadline: March 12, 2012
RE/MAX of Western Canada will award 16 bursaries of $1,000 each to qualifying Grade 12 students. In addition, the 16 bursary winners will be entered into a draw and one lucky recipient will receive a RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon ride for two. Bursary winners will be notified in May, 2012.
What is required?  
Students are to convey the contributions they have made to their communities in a short online essay, maximum 1,250 words. Key qualities students should demonstrate are leadership, motivation and communication skills. Other attributes may include volunteering, participation in charitable events or fundraising, and contributions that enrich the lives of others and their communities.

Edward E. Stawnichy Charitable Foundation Entering Scholarship ($500) – Deadline:  December 15, 2011
Available to students entering the Retail Meatcutting Program. Awarded on the basis of academic achievement in high school or upgrading courses. One award will be presented to a student entering in the Fall andthe second award will be presented to a student entering in January at NAIT.

Burger King Scholars Program(variety of awards) – Deadline:  Open November 15, 2011 and closes January 10, 2012.
Eligibility: Be a resident of US or Canada; be graduating from grade 12; average of 75% or higher; plan to enroll full-time, without interruption for next fall.  There is also another scholarship that you can apply to if you are a child of an employee or an employee yourself.

Tall Clubs International ($1000) – unknown

Annually at TCI Convention, TCI awards student scholarship(s) of up to $1000 each to tall students who are under 21 years of age and attending their first year of college in the following Fall.  The recipients must also meet the TCI height requirement minimums of 5’10 for women and 6’2 for men.  Contact the nearest club for an application form – go online! – You must become a member to win the scholarship!

The Big Dig Scholarship ($3000) – June 1, 2012
To be eligible for the “Big Dig Scholarship” you must be currently in Grade 12 and planning on entering into your first year of college/university in 2012 or be currently in your first or second year of college/university.  
In 200 years, one of the your relatives is going to be digging in what is now your backyard.  They are going to find something that you buried in 2012 and it is going to put any financial worries they have to rest.  Go online to learn more about the criteria.

The Council of Educational Facility  Planners International – Gerry McCudden Scholarship  ($950) – Deadline:  May 31st
The candidate shall be a graduating grade 12 student; have an academic average of 80% or higher in their grade 12 year; have leadership potential as measured by leadership roles in school or community activities, or by creatively and vision demonstrated through participation in school or community activities; submit an essay on the required Essay Subject:  “There has been increasing evidence that the design and condition of an educational facility has a significant impact on the quality of education and a student’s ability to learn.  In 500 words or less, please describe how your high school facility has contributed to the quality of your education.  also, please describe the changes to your high school facility that you would propose, which you feel once implemented, would improve the quality of education.”; and must be accepted into a post-secondary educational program following their grade 12 graduation. The Sears Canadian High School Design Competition  - Deadline:  March 25, 2012
The aim of the competition is to promote the study and awareness of various design disciplines in schools across Canada.  The competition is open to all high school students, at the junior (grades 10 and below) and senior (grades 11 and above) levels.  Prizes are awarded at the two levels, in each of the four categories – Industrial Design – Task Light, Fashion Design – Reclaimed T-Shirt, Architecture/Interior Design – Refuelling Station and Graphic Design – 2011 Competition Certificate. Work 2 Live (Prizes:  1st – $1000; 2nd – $700; 3rd – $300 – the school is also awarded money if our students win) Deadline:  4:00 pm April 20, 2012
Typically, there are over 6.000 young Saskatchewan workers injured on the job (more than 16 every day) and two young workers killed every year.  Thinking about safety first can drastically reduce these statistics.  WorkSafe Saskatchewan is trying to raise awareness about on-the-job safety by hosting a Youth Safety Video Contest for students in Grade 9 through 12.  You can find the contest rules, regulations and application package on www.work2live.ca and www.wcbsask.com.

Father Ted Colleton Scholarship (1st – $1500, 2nd – $800, 3rd – $500) - Deadline:  November 30, 2011

Eligibility Criteria:  graduating from a full-time studies in high school, consideration for those who have undertaken a gap year for academic pursuits or community based activities; minimum cumulative average of 85% and hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
Selection Criteria: 
Character, service and leadership are the selection criteria for Loran Awards. Loran scholars are people of strong moral character who have demonstrated academic excellence and potential as leaders. They are curious by nature, interested in a wide range of subjects and willing to take meaningful risks. They prioritize results over appearances and value integrity and honesty. Though they study diverse subjects, and go on to work in a variety of fields, they share a common commitment to their university and larger communities.

TD Scholarships for Community Leadership (20 x up to $70 000) – Deadline:  October 31, 2011 – CLOSED
These scholarships are intended to serve the needs of all Canadian families and communities.  Scholarships are open to students across Canada who are in their final year of high school, have demonstrated outstanding community leadership and obtain a minimum overall average in their most recently completed full year of school of 75%.  
Doing good for others during difficult times in one’s own life requires particularly outstanding commitment. This is why, as part of the selection process, the personal circumstances and/or challenges of each applicant will be considered.
