Odd Fellows and Rebekahs of Saskatchewan – New York City/United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth  - Deadline:  January 15, 2012 – Speak off in Regina – February, 2012 
The purpose of the United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth is to study and to observe the United Nations in action.  The ten day all expense paid tour includes a week in New York:  attend the United Nations and learn first hand how it works;  visit the empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and Ground Zero;  and visit Washington, Philadelphia and Ottawa.  Applicants must be 16 – 17 years old with a minimum of one year of  high school remaining.  Applications must include:  application form; original essay of 450 – 500 words on the topic below; reference letter from the school principal and/or teacher; and a reference letter from a Minister, professional person or employer.
Essay Topic:  “Describe the involvement of the United Nations in a current world event.”

What does rail safety mean to you?   -  Open to ages 11 – 14  -  Deadline:  December 31, 2011 
It’s time to put your creative hats on!  We’re looking for individuals between ages 11 – 14 to create a rail-safety message about staying off the railway tracks.  How you do it, is up to you!  Submissions can be one of many forms of multimedia, including a short video, a poster, a song, or even a comic strip.  Whatever you decide, be creative!  Tell us why rail-safety is important and you could win a grand prize! Lieutenant Governor’s Leadership Forum - 10 DAYS THAT COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE.  - Deadline:  May 1, 2011
Eighteen applicants will be selected. Participants will be chaperoned and are expected to devote their time to Forum activities while the Forum is in session.  All expenses for travel, food, and lodging will be covered.  Who can participate?  Any Saskatchewan high school student who will be in Grades 11 or 12 in October 2011 and has demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities is encouraged to apply.  Selection criteria will include:  leadership in school activities; leadership in the community; academic achievement; essay outlining leadership in school and the community; and accomplishments, recognition, awards, honours, and scholarships.   

Saskatchewan Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners – Sidney Bloxom Scholarship  (2 x $500) – Deadline:  May 9, 2011
Students in Grade 9 to 12 attending a Saskatchewan High School are eligible upon submission of an essay in their own words outlining how to protect their family, friends, community, and themselves from the harmful exploitation of personal information place on social networking sites.  Thus the essay topic is:  Protection of personal information on social networking internet sites.  Check out the above link for more specific details and contact information about the scholarship.
 

A Voice for Animals High School Essay Contest – Humane Education Network ($250 – $1000) – Deadline:  March 17, 2011
Must currently be attending high school or be home schooled and under 19 years of age.  You will need to submit an essay regarding the mistreatment of the animal species.

Young Naturalist Awards (48 x $50 – $2000) - Deadline:  March 1
Students must submit narrative essay and/or field journal entry based on biology, earth science or astronomy expedition.  Open to students in grade 7 – 12.
Optimist International Essay Contest ($2500)- Deadline:  February 28, 2011
Essay topic:  How My Education is Key to a Successful Future.
For youth under the age of 19 as of December 31, 2010.  Interested students must contact their local Optimist Club.

Forum for Young Canadians  - Deadline: varies since there are four sessions

When: Four week-long sessions are offered each Spring (see above for this year’s dates).
Where: Held in Ottawa – most seminars and simulations are held on Parliament Hill.  Accommodations are in a hotel in downtown Ottawa.
What: A bilingual, non-partisan and AMAZING experience to develop leadership skills and to learn about parliamentary democracy, how government works and how YOU can make a difference! For an example of the week’s schedule, view the a schedule here.
Who: Up to 125 students (aged 15-19 years) from across Canada each session. See our Eligibility section for more details.
Why: You meet great people from across the country and develop your leadership skills through a stimulating, high-intensity and fun program!

SGI – The Decision (Tyler Blake’s Story – Movie Trailer - Where you decide the ending) – Deadline:  February 1, 2011
How to enter:  Students are asked to finish the story to the trailer in 500 words or less.  What happens after the accident? What are the consequences of Tyler’s decision to drink and drive? How does Tyler’s decision change his and his family’s lives emotionally, physically, even financially?  What about Tyler’s girlfriend and the people in the other vehicle?
Details:  To enter and be eligible to win you must be between 14-19, attending high school, and only one entry will be accepted per individual PER DAY.  That means you have a great opportunity to win some great prizes. 
Prizes:  There are four individual student prizes of gift cards of electronics to be won, each a value of $2500.   In addition, there are 4 individual school prizes of $5000 cash to be awarded to the school indicated on the winning student entries.  Prizes winners will be selected by random draws made March 2, 2011 in Regina.

Generation Next…Reshaping the world for a better tomorrow.  The competition is divided and judged in two categories:  high school and university, and is open to all registered students.  Students may enter individually or in groups of up to ten members.

Shad Valley – Drive. Stretch. DreamSummer 2011 (July 3 – July 29) – Deadline:  December 8, 2010 and January 19, 2011
-  Four intense and exciting weeks experiencing campus life in residence at a top Canadian university.
-  Science, engineering, technology, entrepreneurship and leadership.
- The pre-university experience of a lifetime fro grade 10, 11 and 12 students.

Foundation for the Advancement of Aboriginal Youth (FAAY)  – Deadline:  October 15, 2010

The FAAY is a national scholarship and bursary program administered by CCAB that responds to the critical need to assist Aboriginal high school and post secondary students with bursaries and scholarships. 

Bursaries: $750 to high school students pursuing a high school diploma as an incentive to stay in school  (open to grade 9 – 12 students).

Scholarships:  provides a minimum amount of $2500 to students pursuing a post-secondary education in any discipline.

Eligibility:  Canadian resident, of First Nation (Status or Non-Status), Metis, or Inuit heritage and attending high school or post-secondary institute. Demonstrate financial need; academic and  career commitment; contributions to family and community and leadership and role model qualities.
