Parents
Introduction
Parents play a key role in students career development. In a recent informal survey at Vanier Collegiate 70% of students surveyed stated that parents were the number one support and resource when deciding on future career and educational pathways. It is for that reason this section is included in this website.
The handbook, Career Planning With Teens: A Guide for Parents, Guardians, and Counsellors, provides career planning information, worksheets and appendicesof website links for parents to use to assist their teens with self-assessment, course selections, choices of a career pathway (post-secondary education, apprenticeship, entrepreneurship, and employment, as well as student loans and scholarship information). This handbook was created by Prince Albert Catholic School Division and funded by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education and therefore their might be some specific information for St. Mary High, however it is a great resource for everyone.
While the entire handbook, or portions of it, may be printed out to be used, parents may want to access the online version of the Appendices since each website address listed is an active link to the website in the appendix. A print copy of the handbook is also available at the St. Mary High School library.
